Writing the Perfect Bartender Resume

How to Write a Great Bartending Resume

Writing a good bartender resume is the first and most important step in getting your foot in the door as a bartender at your local bar, pub or nightclub.

Your bartending resume is a picture of you and your abilities. It is meant to give your future employer a good idea of what you would be like if they were to hire you. Put in the time and effort to write a grammatically correct, professional-looking bartending resume.

When deciding how to write your bartender resume, decide first if you want it to be serious and formal or relaxed and informal. From there you’ll want to highlight your best traits, skills and / or experience. If you have a lot of experience but don’t have a post-secondary education, simply leave off the education section.

And vice versa, if you have a bartending certificate, a mixology certificate and a draught masters certification and no real experience, put these items first when crafting your bartender resume.

IMPORTANT TIPS FOR WRITING A WINNING BARTENDER RESUME

  • Never lie on your bartender resume
Chances are, the prospective employer is going to find out one way or another – through the “grapevine” or by your performance. And the end is, inevitably dismissal.
  • Always use spell check
And always read through it – out loud – to make sure it sounds ok and that there aren’t any errors that the spell check missed.bartending resume writing service
  • Read it aloud to a couple of different people
You will gain a different perspective and valuable feedback the more people you read it to.
  • Make sure it looks professional
Again, this is your one and only chance to shine before actually getting the bar interview. Take the extra time and effort to format your bartending resume before it leaves your hands.
  • Stand out from the crowd
Bars and nightclubs get so many resumes that it becomes almost impossible to remember the faces that dropped them off. Make your bartending resume just a bit different than everyone else’s and it’ll help you stick out from the crowd.

Your bartender resume is the only thing that the hiring manager sees when s/he is thinking about giving you a call to come in for a bar interview. They don’t see what you look like, how bubbly and outgoing you are, how great your customer service skills are or that you are able to tell the difference between lagers, ales and stouts. So, you have to be able to convey those attributes on your resume.

If your bartending resume doesn’t look good, you won’t get the chance to shine and sell yourself during the bar interview.

Remember: Put as much effort into your resume
as you’d put into the job if given the opportunity.

If you simply can’t / don’t want to / don’t know how to write your own bartender resume, then don’t do it! Don’t ruin your chances of bartending at the top clubs, pubs and restaurants because you lack the creative skills to write a winning bartending resume.
